Our writers

First Story was co-founded by a professional writer and within our founding charitable objectives is a commitment to promote the value of arts and culture, in particular literature, poetry and creative writing. We do this, in part, by commissioning professional writers to deliver our flagship Young Writers Programme. We value the skills of our writers and pay them fairly for their work. We delight in the successes of former First Story Writers-in-Residence, like Juno Dawson and Monique Roffey, as much as we're immensely proud of the talent and achievements of our current practitioners. First Story writers, past and present, are an extended family and we embrace opportunities to work together to inspire young people.
