Join us at the Manchester Metropolitan University on Tuesday 3rd June 2025 for the very first Young Writers Festival North, headlined by award-winning writer Danielle Jawando.

To celebrate our first Young Writers Festival North, we are offering FREE tickets to current Partner Schools in the North West, East Midlands and Yorkshire. Schools are invited to register for up to 25 student places.

Approximate running time for the day is 9.30am – 2.30pm. School staff will need to accompany young writers on the day and arrange transport to and from Manchester Metropolitan University. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Our headline speaker is author and screenwriter Danielle Jawando. Danielle’s debut YA novel, And the Stars Were Burning Brightly, won best senior novel in the Great Reads Award, and was shortlisted for several prizes including the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, and was longlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal. Her second novel, When Our Worlds Collided, won the 2023 Jhalak Children’s and YA Prize, the YA Book Prize and the 2023 Diverse Book Awards. Her third YA novel, If My Words Had Wings, was published in May 2024.

Please note this form is an expression of interest to attend the Young Writers Festival North on Tuesday 3rd June 2025. First Story will be in touch to confirm your place.
