Michael Mann

Michael Mann’s debut children’s novel, Ghostcloud, published by Hachette, was a Waterstones Best Children’s Book of 2021 and included in the BookTrust Great Books Guide 2022. It was published in the US in autumn 2022 with starred reviews in Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly.

The sequel, Nightspark, came out in February 2023 and is due out in the US in September 2023.

He has a story in the new Faber Book of Bedtime stories (2022) and has won and received commendations in several writing competitions, including SCBWI’s Undiscovered Voices, the London Writer’s Award, Faber’s FAB prize and the Bath Children’s Novel Award.

Michael is a primary school teacher and has taught in schools across London. He now balances teaching work with school author visits and writing projects, as well as the occasional literary festival. He lives in East London with his (very patient) partner and their (less patient) children, and can be found playing board games when he’s not busy losing his wallet.
