Ben Tagoe

Ben has written on various TV shows including Sky comedy In the Long Run (2018) and drama Stan Lee’s Lucky Man (2019). He was selected for the BBC Writers Academy in 2011, gaining credits on Eastenders, Casualty and Doctors as a result. Ben joined the team on ITV’s Coronation Street in 2014, writing 32 episodes before leaving in 2018.
In 2016, Ben’s episode of CBBC’s hit show Jamie Johnson was shortlisted for the Children’s BAFTA awards, International Emmys and Royal Television Society awards. He currently has various original TV projects in development with production companies and broadcasters.
For the stage, Ben’s plays include Cold Turkey At Nana’s (2012), The Thing About Psychopaths (2013) and When we were Brothers (2018). Most recently, his one-man show Better Days toured the UK to critical and audience acclaim in Spring ’23 and was remounted at The Edinburgh Fringe in the same year. Ben is currently on commission with National Theatre of Scotland to write a new play – The Black Star Band.
Ben’s radio play Triple Word Score was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service in 2015. He is currently writing The New Sugar, which will be produced and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2024.
