Adam Robinson
Adam Z. Robinson is a writer, performer, theatre-maker and workshop leader. In 2021, Adam was commissioned by The Dukes Lancaster to write Belle and Mary, a true crime play based on historical events. The show premiered in November 2021 and will tour in Spring 2023. Adam’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol toured nationally in December 2021. He is currently working on a brand-new play called Unhomely, supported by Arts Council England. Adam is also working on adapting four classic ghost stories to be performed as a one-man show, Haunted, in autumn/winter 2022.
Adam wrote Smile Club (**** The Guardian) with Andrea Heaton, a brand-new piece of dystopian theatre produced by Red Ladder Theatre Company. The play premiered at the Leeds Playhouse in March 2020 before touring. The play will be released as an adapted six-part audio series in 2022.
Adam’s play Upon the Stair (“Everyone needs to see this show” – Reviews Hub), premiered in January 2020 and went on to a week-long run at Harrogate Theatre. His play The Book of Darkness & Light (“Truly remarkable… Stunningly scary… Unmissable.” – Great British Ghosts) toured extensively in 2016-18 and his follow-up show, SHIVERS (“Kept me enthralled from the very beginning” – British Theatre Guide), toured the UK in 2018-19 to more than 30 theatres. Both plays are published as books by Playdead Press. The Book of Darkness & Light was also produced by The Performers’ Theatre in Sackville, Canada, in October 2021.
Other writing work includes: Conscientious (national tour 2014), Seaside Terror (with Odd Doll Theatre, toured 2017-20) and short film The Split (dir. Ed Rigg, starring Edward Hogg).
Adam has over 10 years’ experience of leading writing workshops for schools and arts organisations, both in the UK and overseas. Adam currently leads interactive online workshops and writing courses for participants all over the world.
