by Participants at First Story Festival 2024
Not like a star, like a supernova, it shines, this festival.
And you are all leaves, intricate and unique, special.
We enter this forest of words the sky dark as our past,
Sometimes the rhymes are slow like a snail, other times fast
Like a rowdy horse. We remember, everything is new
And the moon has feeling too,
Dance on the moon like the stars are watching
Our voices sound like birds chirping in the early morning.
Our words are red like a rose, evil like a villain
Mysterious in this strange atmosphere we live in.
Sometimes we are trapped in our darkest minds
Whilst our confidence slowly sets alight
Our thoughts slowly fading away
So our self love can set us free again.
Despite our age, we give it all we’ve got
Remember red is the attack of embarrassment but the gift of love.
Here, we dance because dance is music with your body
A festival in full motion,
Our steps glide like the ocean.
We learn that not all beginnings have an end
And success is multiple mountains.
This festival is a school packed with faces
Blue ocean, blue sky, blue faces.
We ride our freedom like a herd of horses
When we’re together we feel strong and mighty
Able to sing in time, skip in line,
Sometimes overcoming fear is the hardest
But freedom can take you anywhere like the tardis
This festival is a dancefloor of stories, it is everything,
Don’t let anyone discourage you, sing.
