CO-OP ACADEMY GRANGE/GRANGE TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE, BRADFORD/WEST YORKSHIRE, 2018
Darling, people are not poems,
The rhythm and rhyme of a poem
Doesn’t move like your body, nor arms;
The structure of them doesn’t dance swiftly, like yours.
Like people, they are not edited –
Once they’re published, they’re gone.
You should know better,
My dear, once you’ve sprung out you’ll understand
That people aren’t always planned.
You’ll see the beauty beyond yourself,
That you’re more than what you have felt, but one thing,
Poems aren’t always applauded, just like us,
But darling, just understand, poems are not people,
People are human and you’re not perfect
Just precious and rare, not found everywhere.
