Smell flowers, like orchid, peony,
The calming breeze on a summer’s day,
Water dripping from a bridge into a puddle,
Scattered cars on the street,
The clouds mingling in the sun,
And I think of you.
Taste the crunch of a cucumber,
The tang of canned drinks,
Gummy peaches exploding,
Peeling the pages of new textbooks,
Shopping in a market miles away,
And I think of you.
Feel gentle rain misty on my face,
Spritz of setting spray,
Blades of grass creasing under our weight,
Flour and melted chocolate messy,
Pull of strings in a swing set,
And I think of you.
Hear the song of water rippling,
A silent cry, opening paper,
Out of tune whistles,
Laughter that turns into hysterical wheezes,
‘Would you rather…’,
And I think of you.
See the words paste onto a page,
Ideas lingering, passing one to another,
Jokes that fly and pile up,
Green neon mess on blonde hair,
A Smile, a flash of light,
And I think of you.
