A creative-writing podcast that puts students’ voices and experiences at the forefront.

Helping young people navigate and express their views around the continually changing sociopolitical landscape has never been more important. Since the pandemic, schools have been faced with a widening attainment gap and an alarming increase in students reporting mental health issues. London Voice uses the power of creative writing to improve both oracy and literacy skills and build students’ confidence.
In this podcast series, you’ll hear from students and teachers at Hampstead School, St Paul’s Way School, Platanos College, Skinners’ Academy, Trinity Acadamy and St Saviour’s and St Olave’s Church of England School, all of whom have taken part in creative writing, performance and audio workshops led by skilled industry professionals.
Their voices sit alongside the First Story Writers-in-Residence who have guided and challenged them to foster creativity and confidence throughout the year. You’ll also hear the insights reflections of First Story Ambassadors, Tracy Chevalier and Patrice Lawrence, writer and performer Yomi Sode, and First Story CEO, Sophie Hiscock.
