For the sixth year running, First Story are collaborating with the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education to offer a bursary opportunity for those applying for the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Creative Writing course.
Open to those working in state-funded or non-profit organisations such as state schools, public libraries, local authorities, health or prison services, up to four bursaries are available for places on the Institute’s Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Creative Writing course.
Each bursary is worth up to £2,000 toward the cost of the part-time, one year course.
The qualification, which covers the philosophy, history and methodology of teaching creative writing, will equip participants with the skills to design a creative-writing course suitable for teaching. Those studying will also explore techniques for providing constructive feedback.

The First Story bursaries make teaching creative writing accessible to a broader range of potential educators empowering them to teach creative writing across schools, prisons, health services, the voluntary sector, schools, and the wider community. Regardless of the role, the bursary is for anyone who works in these settings who wants to acquire skills, strategies, and confidence to teach creative writing.
