Nathaniel King
Nathaniel King is a poet from Cornwall, UK. His debut collection of poetic lyric essays, Ghost Clinic (Broken Sleep Books, 2023) received an Eric Gregory Award in 2024. His writing has appeared in international literary magazines including Poetry London, The London Magazine, Bath Magg, Berlin Lit, and Butcher’s Dog. He has produced work for various arts and culture organisations including Surrey Arts, Osmosis Press, and the RH Poetics Research Centre.
Nathaniel’s creative work engages with place and environmental heritage. As part of Royal Holloway’s Living Sustainably Catalyst project, he contributed to Radii, an interdisciplinary exploration of the Surrey Hills landscape, weaving together poetics, geology, and local history.
A passionate educator, Nathaniel is a qualified secondary English teacher with extensive experience leading creative writing workshops for adults and young people across the UK. He is particularly interested in finding creative avenues to engage students who struggle to engage with the mainstream curriculum. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Royal Holloway, where he teaches on undergraduate Literature and Crisis modules, and has presented and curated panels at academic conferences.
His multidisciplinary creative practice spans poetry, photography, videography, and printmaking, with a focus on lino and woodblock printing.
